My
Brother's a World-Class Pain : A Sibling's Guide to Adhd-Hyperactivity
Uk
Can
by Michael
Gordon "The big sister in this book is a great story teller! She
explains in kids' words the condition her brother has and how they
handle it. She is candid in saying it often bothers her, which is
good because siblings can often bear the brunt of ADHD family/home
problems. It's important that kids know what happens if they have
a brother or sister with ADHD, what to expect, and how they can
even help. My seven-year-old daughter has gained a lot of wisdom
from it in trying to understand her cousin who has this condition!
I recommend it."

A
Terrible Thing Happened Uk
Can
by Margaret M. Holmes (Excellent
book about a child who saw a "terrible thing" and how it affected
his life. He begins to feel better when he begins to talk to an
adult. This book I feel would be especially helpful for any child
who has been exposed to any trauma and he/she would learn that they
are not alone with their feelings).

Adam
and the Magic Marble Uk
Can
by Adam & Carol Buehrens (A delightful
adventure book about 3 boys. One has cerebral palsy and the other
two have Tourette syndrome. They find a magic marble with magic
powers and accidentally it becomes aimed at the bullies. I recommend
this book to any child who has a disorder that makes them feel different
from their peers).

Depression
is the Pits, But I'm Getting Better: A Guide for Adolescents
Uk
Can
by E. Jane Garland, M.D. (An excellent book for teens who are experiencing
any level of depression. One of the key things I found in the book
is the reminder to tell someone and it discusses the best people
to tell, such as mental health professionals. Discusses the symptoms
and types of depression, how to get help, discusses medication,
counseling and provides personal stories of another teen's experience
with depression. This book could save lives).

The
Other Me : Poetic Thoughts on ADD for Adults, Kids and Parents
Uk
Can
by
Wilma R. Fellman, Arnold C. Fellman (Illustrator), Arthur L. Robin
"Wilma Fellman has given us a true gift of herself by letting us
see inside. In the process, she helps us all become a bit more forgiving
and understanding of ourselves. Through her humor and sensitivity,
she captures the feeling of what it's like to live in an ADD body
and with an ADD mind. "The Other Me" can help those who are coping
with their ADD all alone feel less isolated and more understood.
For others, this collection of poems will bring waves of identification,
as they find that one special piece that describes their private
experiences in such a clear and moving way."

Putting
on the Brakes : Young People's Guide to Understanding Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Uk
Can
by Patricia O. Quinn, Judith
M. Stern, Michael Chesworth (Illustrator) "I felt it put me closer
with my son, since I could better understand what the ADHD was about
from a different point of view. It was like being inside the mind
of a child with ADHD. When I react now, I think a lot more before
making a rash outburst, because I know my son will be thinking "Gosh
- whats the big problem?". Thank-you for letting me get closer to
understanding what a child with ADHD goes through."
