NEW  My Enemy, Myself by Meri R. Kennedy "Long time member of the Sanctuary Community"

Sometimes I Act Crazy : Living with Borderline Personality Disorder
Uk  Can by Jerold J. Kreisman and Hal Straus
"The reader gets to experience the patient's stories just like a psychologist would, with patient stories in bite-sized portions. The explanations are unusually good. The index at the back of the book is more thorough than the first book; I looked to see if Woody Allen's movie "Zelig" was listed in this index, since it was mentioned in both books, and there it was! The book was reader friendly. It was also thoughtfully written, so that a person with a short attention span and unlikely to read the whole text would be able to get the important message that there is a "cure." I was surprised at the sexuality in some of the stories, but I was grateful for these examples because they were necessary to understand the thinking of the BPD patients. The authors presented astonishing evidence of successful treatment methods. The book mentioned many of the illnesses that are similar to BPD and what exactly the defining symptoms were. What BPD was, how to identify it, and how to respond when a person with this disease exhibits its symptoms, is the focus of the book - A new hope for a future without BPD! It may take ten years, but for the ones suffering, it is something."

Kreisman and Straus are also the authors of the BPD "Bible" I Hate You, Don't Leave Me : Understanding the Borderline Personality

Carousel Music  by Rick Moskovitz Excellent book, I couldn't put it down. Very enjoyable. I know Dr Moskotivitz was treying to enlighten people about BPD. Main charecter sufferers from BPD. Excellent read.

Second Edition of "Lost in the Mirror: An Inside Look at Borderline Personality DisorderUk  Can  by Richard Moskovitz M.D. Dr. Moskovitz says "Lost in the Mirror explores the origins of .."BPD"..and offers its sufferers a framework for beginning to heal. While the first edition focused on the dynamics of the psychotherapeutic relationship that underlies all good treatment, this edition elaborates on the kinds of psychotherapy that are practiced today. It describes mainstream approaches, such as psychoanalytic psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, and behavior therapy, as well as innovative treatments, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)...

Since Lost in the Mirror was first written, there have been significant changes in the biological approaches to relieving emotional pain. New generations of drugs have been developed, many of which work better, faster, and with fewer side effects than their predecessors. Psychiatrists have become more adept at combining medications and blending their effects in order to bring more complete relief of symptoms. A revised Chapter 15 includes up-to-date information about the drug treatment of BPD-related symptoms.

For those of you who are new to Lost in the Mirror, I welcome you to learn about what it feels like to live with this painful condition. For those who have returned to learn more, I invite you to explore the most recent innovations in pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatments and to explore the abundant resources now available for continuing your education about"..BPD.

skills training manual for treating borderline personality disorder by marsha linehan, dialectical behavior therapySkills Training Manual for Treating Borderline Personality Disorder  Uk  Can by Marsha M. Linehan Ph.D. (Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Manual. This form of treatment according to research, is excellent for treating BPD behaviors. I strongly recommend this manual). "Linehan is a brilliant, compassionate, and rigorous therapist for borderline patients. What's more, and what is most unusual for master therapists, she has proven its efficacy in published randomized, controlled trials. What is fortuitous for borderline patients and their therapists is that she has painstakingly crafted a wise book and user-friendly manual well grounded in principle, detailed in its strategies, and exportable to a wide range of treatment settings."

Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (Diagnosis and Treatment of Mental Disorders) Uk  Can   (This book is a companion to go with the above book. "The book is also an encyclopedia of all problems ever encountered with borderline patients, offering usually well thought-out therapeutic strategies....I would warmly recommend these books to anyone who is involved in treating borderline patients or is interested in innovative cognitive-behavioral approaches..." "While this book is primarily for therapists treating this disorder, it can also be very educational for and quite comforting to family members of people with this disorder. People with BPD can be incredibly upsetting to family members, and not being able to understand why someone is like this can be very frustrating. To read a very detailed explanation of the disorder can be an incredible relief. While the writing style is laced with Psychological jargon (as it should be) a layperson can still understand most all of the concepts in the book. I highly recommend it."

Shadow Syndromes  Uk  Can by John J. Ratey, Catherine Johnson (Do you or a loved one have some symptoms of a mental illness(s), but not enough for a definitive diagnosis. You may be suffering from a Forme Fruste or Shadow Syndrome of that disorder. This book describes the Shadow syndrome and adds measure that even if not enough symptoms exist the symptoms still need to be treated. Discusses common disorders and their psychological and neurochemical basis and treatments of these disorders. An extremely important work that should be read by all. It could will your perception of mental illness. Highly Recommended)

I'm Not Supposed to Be Here: My Recovery from Borderline Personality Disorder  Uk  Can  by Rachel Reiland, Laura Paxton. All I know is it is new. The book was good. The first person narrative was excellent but a few times felt receptive. Its an excellent first book. Mrs. Reiland has a very clear voice, and knows how to use it. At times I felt she didn’t take responsibility for her actions. I hate the word “cured” in terms of mental illness. I will very much agree that she was better, but not cured. She even talks about having to be on guard for returning behaviors. I have heard from many of the sufferers of the BPD who said that it was very good and accurately portrayed the disorder. So if you suffer from the BPD this is a good read and will help you see your own way thru this disorder.

I Hate You, Don't Leave Me : Understanding the Borderline Personality  Uk  Can  by Jerold J. Kreisman (Author), Hal Straus (Author). Still the BPD "Bible". Still correct on its description of the disorder. Warning to sufferers, this book was written almost 40 years ago and states there is no treatment for the BPD. That is absolutely false, there are many treatments known now. One Dr. has stated the easiest way to get a sufferer of the BPD suicidal was to give them this book. But as an early description, this book still has merit.
