What I found most useful is that the author provides comparison of different therapies available to-date based on scientific research, not her opinion allowing me to make my own choice. Having read this book, I know that my next step should be looking for DBT therapy with emphasis on cognitive schema-based approach. I also, found out that I should avoid not-so-helpful supportive therapy used with other disorders."

I found the book to be quite interesting and knowledgeable. The author states "The basic and underlying cause of the borderline personality disorder is an affective disorder....Since mood, especially mood disorder, is viewed as a primarily biological function, the role of life events and experiential factors is relatively unimportant in the development and maintenance of borderline personality features." He also discusses countertransference, pharmacology, and his thoughts on how to counsel borderlines).
