ON TOP OF OLD SMOKEY….
July 25th Is New Deadline for Discounts for Imagery & Trauma Workshop

I'll be presenting a new, 9-CEU workshop on August 16-17, called Balance of
Power from the Inside Out: Imagery for Healing, Stress and Trauma. I'll be doing 6
of these workshops this year, co-sponsored by The ConferenceWorks!  and the
Association for Humanistic Psychology.  This first one is being held at the beautiful
Renaissance Hotel, in historic Asheville NC, overlooking the Great Smokey
  Mountains.

We had a mini-flood of early sign-ups to meet the ConferenceWorks' July 4th
discount deadline of $60-off, but you can still save $40 by registering before the
next deadline - July 25th - by clicking on
  888.517.7089.

Also, there's an impressive reduction in the hotel room rate at the beautiful
Renaissance Asheville Hotel - just $119 until July 25th.  Those ConferenceWorks!
goddesses pride themselves (justifiably) on their ability to find luxurious places and
make them affordable for our under-indulged participants.  So do check it out.

I'm totally stoked about the new material I've been working on, on imagery, the
quirky wiring of the brain, the biochemistry of healing and the psychology of trauma
survivorship, with particular emphasis on how ideally suited imagery is for healing
PTSD.  Traumatic stress, it turns out, is the ideal condition for exploring the
profound interplay of mind, body and spirit.

It's also clear that the spate of newly minted, short-term, body-based "power
therapies", as they are sometimes called, use imagery at their core for good reason.
In this workshop, I'll be taking some time to clarify the differences and similarities
within this baffling array of "alphabet treatments" - EMDR, SE, EFT, TAT, TFT,
TIR, VKD, PET, IRT, SIT and TPR.  (Hey, I'm not making these up.  In order of
  appearance, these stand for Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing;
Somatic Experiencing; Emotional Freedom Technique; Tapas Acupressure
Technique; Thought Field Training; Traumatic Incident Reduction; Visual
Kinesthetic Dissociation; Prolonged Exposure Therapy; Imagery Rehearsal
Therapy; Stress Inoculation Training; and Trauma Pattern Release.. and trust me,
that isn't all of them.) The good news is, they have a great deal in common, one with
the other, you don't need to know them all, they're not all that hard to learn, and
most hold great promise.  This field has been exploding so fast, nobody can keep
up with it. So I'll be doing my best to bring you up to speed on these new
discoveries - both clinicians and regular folk.

Not for nothin' have I been scouring the research literature, grilling other
practitioners and talking with all manner of trauma survivors. This is the material I've
been working on for the past 14 months, and the topic of my new book for
Bantam/Dell/Doubleday (or Random House or Bertelsmann or whatever the heck
my publisher is calling itself these days -  I believe it is all of the above til the next
  merger.)

I promise you, the material is sophisticated but entirely comprehensible, even for the
most science-phobic among you.  The implications for healing and imagery are
profound, and the practical applications a godsend.

If you can't make this Asheville workshop, I'll be doing five others at equally
  beautiful locations around the country:

  ·       Clearwater, FL at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort on Sept 6-7
  ·       Houston, TX at the Del Lago Resort on Oct 11-12
  ·       On Cape Cod, Nov 1-2, at the Sea Crest Resort in Hyannis
  ·       At Copper Mountain Resort in Denver on Nov 22-23
  ·       In Santa Fe, New Mexico, Dec 6-7, at the  Hyatt Regency Tamaya
          Resort & Spa

Oh!  I should also mention that there are deep deductions on the registration fees
for our much appreciated, HealthJourneys distributors.  In addition, members of
AHP, ATP, students and seniors get $25 off the reg. fee, and there are work-study
  arrangements, too.

AHP is an approved provider of Continuing Education Credit, and counselors,
social workers, nurses and massage therapists get nine contact hours.

NEW HEALTHJOURNEYS WEBSITE LAUNCH SET FOR AUGUST 1ST

Please keep an eye out for our new www.healthjourneys.com website, scheduled to
launch August 1st or thereabouts, thanks to the relentless effort, skill, focus, drive
and resourcefulness of our fearless leader & CEO, Dan Kohler.  The new
to navigate and easy to read.

A NEW ONLINE INTENSIVE - Ericksonian Hypnosis Training with Bill O'Hanlon

The National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine is now
offering a superb, 6-week, online intensive training program, with hands-on,
personalized supervision in Ericksonian Hypnosis, led by none other than master
teacher Bill O'Hanlon.  It begins July 14th and goes through August 22nd.

This 18-hour CEU workshop consists of weekly reading assignments from a
required course book, Bill's weekly lectures via RealAudio [- he is an exceptionally
gifted, entertaining and knowledgeable teacher, with a knack for getting to the
essentials and providing practical direction, without a trace of condescension or
pretense…], clinical assignments to implement with clients, and steady feedback,
supervision and dialogue with Bill and other participants through the course's
  message boards.

In order to apply, you should have had at least a 15-hour introductory workshop in
hypnosis - even if you've never used it.  In fact, this format is particularly terrific for
clinicians who just aren't sure enough of themselves to make use of their training,
because it's geared to accompany you as you take the learning into your practice.

The cost for the 6-week, 18 CEU course is $495.  For more information or to
register, call NICABM at 800.743.2226 or click on

NEW TITLES FOR THE HEALTHJOURNEYS CATALOG

I'm happy to have found some fine, new CDs for our next catalog, authored and
spoken by various extraordinary practitioners from around the globe.  These titles
will also be featured on the new website and in our next catalog.  You'll be hearing
more about them in the weeks to come.

In addition, Cindy Stalnaker continues to convert our already existing cassette titles
into CD format - I know many of you have been asking for more of these for some
time now.  We're getting there.  At the moment, we have 2 new CDs in the pipeline
  - Successful Relationship imagery over at
  Infertility which is posted at

We've also just re-mastered some more of the exquisite music of our awesome
composer, Steve Kohn.  This new volume will be available in time for the new site
launch in August.  His new collection contains the lovely, layered music from
Healing Trauma, the inspiring, energizing score from Cardiac Rehab (otherwise
known as Chariots of Oz, after the cardiac surgeon who commissioned it) and the
evocative, calming, heart-opening music of Peaceful Dying. Look for it in early
  August.
