Dear Friend with the BPD
Please help me. I am dear friends with a person with borderline personality disorder. He has bled me dry emotionally and I cannot give any more. He gives almost nothing in return. I can't turn my back on this friend as he trusts (almost) no one but me and I am sincerely devoted to him. But, the fact remains that I cannot continue to go on like this. My tank is dry. Please help.
Regrettably, the borderline is vampire. As long as you expose the vein, s/he will drink. Despite your reservations, your only recourse for self-reservation is to detach from the situation. This is a painful decision and, not advice, but a commentary on experience. If you wish to continue on your current path, hat is your choice, but you must recognize that situation for which you
are volunteering will not likely change and you will continue to be bled out.
