Depression and Self Injury
I am 21 years old... I was diagnosed with depression when I was 10 or 11...
I currently have a very close friend/boyfriend (I have a fear of relationships so
I won't take the title... sounds retarded but things are weird with the title) and
I tried to research about depression so I could offer him some information in why
I cut my arms, why I start needless fights about minor things etc. and I came across Borderline Personality Disorder and pretty much every symptom described me to a T and the depression
I didn't have ALL the symptoms... is it possible to have them mixed up?? and what can
I do about it I have been reading about it for about 6 hours now and have gotten descriptions of what it is
symptoms etc but not really What I Can Do about it!! I am currently taking Wellbutrin
150mg...
Depression underlies Borderline Personality Disorder. BPD is not diagnosable in a person until they are in their early teens...it starts to 'constellate' (develop) around 10 or 11 years of age.
It is possible that you are a Depressive, but developed Borderline traits as a means of coping with the world. Rather than self-diagnose, I suggest that you get re-evaluated. If you see a
psychiatrist, have him or her do it. If not, find a way to get re-evaluated for your symptom profile. The medication may not change, but you might look into therapy in order to help you develop some skills for relating better the world...and your friend.
First step...start calling him your boyfriend. Believe in something and believe it is both good for you and that you deserve it.
