Sufferer of the BPD
I am a twenty five year old woman who suffers from PTSD, Bipolar Disorder,
and self mutilation. I am currently medicated on Zoloft, Zyprxea, and Klonipin. I still deal with an
inability to control my anger and at times I take out my stress on my fiancé. I have tried
counseling for about ten years (give or take) and I feel like I need some help to deal with this
issue. It doesn't stop me from doing day to day things but when a Doctor tells me to just relax I wonder how I can explain to them that I can't. I
don't know how to relax. I have been doing research on these issues and have read books and have looked at internet sites yet I never find an answer
on how to calm down. Maybe you have a few ideas to help me.
Have you tried any of the holistic practices? I use Yoga and meditation to help my PTSD and anxiety patients. Try and find a good Yoga class (if you tell me where you located I can locate a teacher for you). Look for Kripalu, Shivananda or Himalayan...stay away from Bikram, Ashtanga, Power Yoga or Hot Yoga. Also, click on this link and get this tape to help you learn to meditate. Meditation will be difficult, but worth it. Along with being a psychotherapist I am an Initiate Lineage Holder of Himalayan Shankya and Raja Yoga. My teacher is Sri Swami Rama. I would more than happy to offer you continued support in finding inner calm.

PS -- Yoga is also a great "couples"
thing to do. If he can get over his ego (he's a guy -- I understand), your
fiance might find it enjoyable, as well.
