My name is Ardell and I am a 32 year old female.
I recovered from anorexia over 10 years ago and now am a graduate student studying anorexia and related disorders such as anxiety, perfectionism, OCD, and depression. Each of these related disorders has affected me to some degree, so I believe I have much to share both personally and from my studies. I believe that many anorexic clients have an over-developed sense of responsiblity for others and a caring nature. I believe this can contribute to depression and anxiety, but can also be channeled into positive and productive volunteering activities. I have found cognitive-behavioral treatment to be effective, but I believe a well-rounded approach including nutritional counseling, exercise, expressive therapies like art therapy, massage therapy, and group therapy can all contribute to recovery. My email is: M.Ardell.Broadbent@pepperdine.edu
