My name is Courtney and I am a 24 year old Female. 

I was a 2nd year nursing student (getting my RN) & I loved my psychiatric nursing rotation so much, that I decided to change my major to become a mental health professional counselor. I have an associates degree in science & I am finishing up my bachelors degree (I will be done this May/June). I plan to get my masters in the fall in mental health professional counseling. I have my nursing experiences from both lectures & clinical time at a psychiatric unit in a local hospital. Once changing my major I also took abnormal psychology & zen & psychotherapy. I will be taking a self-esteem course this summer. I have always had a love for psychology & I have always wanted to help those who suffer from mental illness. I was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder due to being raped at the age of 16. Ever since I experienced a sexual assault (rape) I have wanted to reach out & help others who are suffering from the same thing. I plan to be a rape advocate, not only an advocate for rape but other forms of abuse & suffering as well. I plan to become a counselor for all branches of mental disorders, including marital problems, drug related problems, etc. With this much said, I truly hope I am able to help reach out to those who suffer from any of these disorders or problems & share my concern & compassion with those who suffer & the families & friends who suffer as well. If I am able to help even one person through a difficult time & make them feel cared about & understood, then I would be extremely thankful for this opportunity. I also feel by becoming an e-mail volunteer, that I will be able to expand my knowledge of mental health disorders & related issues. I hope you will consider me for an e-mail volunteer. I am most definitely a caring, compassionate individual who would make a difference in the lives of those who suffer! I hope to hear back from you!
