My name is Dave, I am a 50 yr. old male.
I'm a 50 year old divorced male that was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, secondary depression, etc. in 1996, from Fire/Ambulance work. I had to quit working in 1999 and am currently on disability. I hope to not remain on it forever. I have no magic cures and I am still struggling. I do have alot of experience fighting this thing and recognize, as only we can, the difficulty in initially accepting there is a problem , the hesitancy in finding help, the lack of qualified help in alot of areas, and accepting the reality that we have to live with a syndrome which the world shows very little understanding for. Personally, it has been very isolating and financially devastating for me, but I do see a light at the end of the tunnel. I would be pleased to email anybody that might benefit from my experiences, both good and bad, successes and failures......if you are a sufferer, supporter or suspect you might have a problem. Please understand that it is NOT only Veterans of Jungle wars whom are susceptible. Wars come in many different forms and duration and all can have the same affect. I spend some time as a Volunteer Victim Advocate as time and health allows and can't guarantee an immediate answer, but will do my very best, and know I will gain as much if not more by talking to you ! I still have bad days (:) I live in Oregon, in the U.S and am fluent only in English. I will try to add more to the page as time allows, but have a basketful of meds and treatments under my belt to discuss, and frustrations and Success's.
