My name is Cyrus and I am a 23 year old male.
I was introduced into the medical world after an intense religious experience, wherein mystical poetry
and the Quran submerged me in a very visceral, abstract understanding when I was 17. I was loosely
diagnosed with bipolar n.o.s. and depression when I was 18, and had a very challenging time with
Psychiatrists, and the stigmatization of that world. I found listening on the part of people to be the best
therapy-- not frantically jotting down notes, making generalizations, and throwing medical terms at me; but
simply listening. I had numerous intense religious (or as some like to say nonrational and psychotic
experiences) until I was almost 19, at which point I managed to gradually integrate my vaster framework
into the mundane. I haven't been on medication for 6 years now.
I am 23, just graduated from Bowdoin College in December, with a degree in Religion and Performance
(self-designed major) and also a Biochemistry degree. I currently do Theater in San Francisco, and manage 6 Oil sites for my father. A little about myself:
I play some experimental piano, and swim. I like to listen to people, and delicately encourage their
struggle out of them- bacause underneath all of the hearts commotion is simply the desire for space to
struggle; and to release the accumulated sorrow and
hang-ups of the everyday.
