Assistant Responsibilities included:
·
Working and liasing with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure
optimal service delivery to Service Users. This includes the communication of
information/observations/opinions to facilitate the development and continual
revision of therapeutic/care programmes. ·
Undertaking group and individual work with Service Users (primarily
from the Rehabilitative and Long-Stay Hostels/Units, but also with Service
Users from Acute & Secure Units within the Hospital). The nature of such
work is determined by the needs of the individual Service User/Group, but
aims to provide practical, social and therapeutic support. ·
Preparing, implementing, and facilitating novel
therapeutic and educational programmes (including Health & Well-Being,
Quit Smoking, Stress Management and Basic Living Skills Groups). Where
appropriate I developed handbooks containing the information from such
programmes to reinforce the content with the Service Users. I also developed
programme plans, including individual group plans that other Occupational
Therapy departments are able to utilise with their clients. ·
Working on a novel vocational training programme to
encourage Service Users to work towards independence where appropriate. ·
Undertaking various administrative duties including documentation,
maintenance of statistical data, and stock control. ·
Supporting and promoting the Health Board's Policies on
Confidentiality, Equal Opportunities, and Health & Safety. ·
Established the first Psychiatric Occupational
Therapy Assistant's Group in the Republic of Ireland. The Group aims to
provide support for other people in the position within the Health Board, to
allow for information and ideas to be shared easily, and to work towards
