My name is Steaphany, I am a 46 yr. old M - F. 

I am a transsexual, a sufferer of Gender Identity Disorder. This is not a disorder of gender or identity, but one of incongruity between the mental image of gender and physical sex. At present I have not received a formal diagnosis, but I have been a do it yourselfer transitioning since January 2002 and taking a regimen of estrogen and progesterone. I am currently seeing a therapist for this condition and how it impacts my family. I'm married and my wife and I have been together for almost 17 years. We have no children. My wife took the news of me being a transsexual very hard, she can not cope with it. At least we are still married. Professionally, I have had a 27 year career in the fields of Electronic and Computer Engineering. I'm continuing taking hormones and my wife wants me to be formally diagnosed and if I'm truly suffering from Gender Identity Disorder to follow the treatment as directed by the HBIGDA's Standards of Care under medically supervised care.
